SAMARA Froebel's Influence on SAMARA
Thirteenth and Eighteenth Gifts

The cutting and folding of paper comprised Gifts Thirteen and Eighteen, respectively. Used in combination, grid squares can be folded into quarters and cut out in distinct patterns consisting of squares, triangles, pentagons and other geometric shapes.

Folding paper using a complex sequence of steps in origami fashion reminds us of the creation of Wright's Origami chairs at SAMARA. With their unusual angles of patterned wood and fabric, the Origami chairs show a flair of the dexterity and hand skills needed to master the exquisite and elaborate work of nature.
