Steel Strength of Materials

Steel was an important material used in Mr. Wright's designs, but is rarely seen as a decorative element. Steel could support the broadest of overhangs, or the longest of cantilevers, and provide great strength as a reinforcing element in concrete.

Steel allowed the architect to dazzle us with marvelous visual effects that defy the laws of gravity and test the limits of sensibility. At SAMARA, steel is used to support the lower roof above windows to the right of where the builders are setting joists and to transverse the longer distance farther to the right over the carport.
