Pink Tones in the Living Room
SAMARA Living Room Light

In the SAMARA living room, sunshine passing through the perforated boards in the clerestory windows early on a winter morning casts pink patterns of winged seeds in motion across the reddish-pink brick surfaces of the fireplace and walls.

As sunlight strikes and dances across the brick and wood, shades of the Sonoran Desert come alive in Indiana. Also in the living room are creations of distinctively pinkish glowing patterns originating from the pole lights.

The pole light located to the right of the fireplace reflects naturally appearing sunlight off the Philippine mahogany wood pieces onto the surrounding brick wall and ceiling. Reflections of light from pink bulbs in the pole light produce colors reminescent of the desert.

In the fireplace itself, Mr. Wright specified that an infrared light be used to cast shadows through the fireplace grate and reflect a bold pink hue against the face of the buff firebrick.

The floor lamp located near the plate glass window next to the sofa picks up the desert theme with a soft pink glow of light emitted from its square shade. Sunlight passing through the trellis on the terrace creates a pink colored design on the brick wall outside.

On the other end of the sofa a table lamp with its soft pink trapezoidal-shaped shade appears similar to the shape of the natural light on the outside wall. Pink glows accent the living room with colors derived from the desert palette.
