The original interior color and materials selected by Frank Lloyd Wright were more of the blue and neutral shades than those presently in use. Only the living and dining room draperies, in a very muted tan, likely selected by Mr. Wright, who was known to dislike window coverings, to hide them as much as possible, remain.

Furniture fabrics and bedroom drapery fabrics in the original design were turquoise. The floor coverings were sparse and the house must have been far cooler feeling than at present. The original colors were also the "in" thing during the 1950s and Mr. Wright had a tendency to moderate his architectural designs with popular color schemes.

Before the dining furniture specifically designed by Frank Lloyd Wright for SAMARA was built, Dr. and Mrs. Christian purchased, at Mr. Wright's advice, a dining room suit that he had designed for the Heritage Henredon Collection.
