SAMARA Furniture and Its Use
In A Frank Lloyd Wright Designed Home

Thoughts About FLLW Furniture Designs
Ted and Lynn Osborn

Informal Little Tables

One last thought. Frank Lloyd Wright did T.V. trays for SAMARA. From our perspective, these represent the ultimate in 'formal' informality. We can not find other FLLW furniture design that comes close to this portable, foldable, and hideable commodity.

Imagine designing something that you could hide rather than display, depending on the need. It boggles the mind to think that Wright would allow anything of his design to be hidden away from view if not needed.

It must have torn at his ego a bit. But these little tables, we think, echoed his own delight in being able to take tea and snacks anywhere within the confines of Taliesin.

There is a picture of Olgivanna and him doing just that in the living room of Taliesin, Spring Green. As a Wright furniture design, the SAMARA T.V. trays can be catagorized for exactly what they are: informal little tables to turn any spot in the home into a cosy dining spot.

Never mind the T.V. with all of its unique and interesting features. As a departure in furniture design for Frank Lloyd Wright, the twelve little T.V. tables of SAMARA may be the crown jewels of his finest work.
