Fall 1999 SAMARA Furniture and Its Use In A Frank Lloyd Wright Designed Home Thoughts About FLLW Furniture Designs Ted and Lynn Osborn ![]()
The built-in furniture of SAMARA represents a departure to a whimsy of rearrangement and can again be found in Wright's early designs. One almost always finds that Wright emphatically protects the perimeter of any space.
If seating were desired, then it always became a built-in element of the design. Otherwise, the homeowner would likely move these elements around as well and thus strip the whole thing down to the bare wall! And god only knows where they'd move it to.
One could argue which is more formal - the artist raised on a stage before her audience or the audience raised to look down upon the artist. I can tell you as lovers of live theater, we prefer looking down on the action.
