Barrel Chairs

Wright commonly used the same design, once he considered it to be good, in several homes. Perhaps the most striking example of this was a barrel shaped chair designed for Buffalo's Darwin Martin home in 1904.

The same chair was selected for use at Fallingwater in 1935. Mrs. Kauffman rejected the chair because it wouldn't sit without rocking on the uneven stone floors, but one did find its way into Mr. Kauffman's bedroom as a desk chair.

The same chair was also selected for use for dining chairs at Herbert Johnson's 1937 home, Wingspread.
