SAMARA Furniture and Its Use
In A Frank Lloyd Wright Designed Home

The Eclectic Mr. Wright
Jerry Johnson

Introduction

The New Heritage Dictionary defines eclectic as "choosing what appears to be the best from diverse sources, systems, or styles".

The furniture in Wright's first home ended up being a mixture of family heirlooms, things he purchased, his early designs, modifications of those designs, and some absolutely uncomfortable office furniture by his own hand.

One doesn't often think of Frank Lloyd Wright as being an eclectic designer. Yet, at SAMARA, as with so many of the homes he designed, the furniture is what one might consider to be Wright Eclectic.
