Southeast Exposure          Clerestory Windows            Terrace Reflections            Cantilevered Roof

In this series of outside photographs, Ed took several shots of SAMARA with a southeast exposure looking up the valley toward the clerestory windows, located between the lower and upper roofs of the house. The golden reflections of Philippine mahagony in the solid glass plate windows of the living room are from the trellis jutting out over the terrace. The cantilevered roof appears to be floating with little or no support.

Photographer's Comments
I like these pictures because I feel that they show Frank Lloyd Wright's concept of Organic Architecture. The house seems to blend into Nature and looks as if it has grown out of the ground. The third photograph in the series shows the outside trellis of the terrace reflecting off the surface of the plate glass windows in the living room making them appear to be on the inside of the house. The cantilevered roof really stands out in the fourth photograph.
