| Dr. Christian demonstrates winged seeds in motion by squeezing a pinecone making the tiny seeds spin downward into the hands of Mr. Crowther. As an artist, Mr. Wright abstracted the samara, or winged seeds, in motion, named the John E. Christian House SAMARA, and used the design for the motif of the house. The view from the dining area supports an important point made by Mr. Crowther in his one-man play - Frank Lloyd Wright believed that the outside of a building should not reveal much of anything about its interior. Something he mentioned that he had not fully realized about Wright's Usonian architecture was the attention Wright paid to detail and the way it contributes to the total integration and harmony of the design. |
