| Dr. John Christian, original client of Frank Lloyd Wright and owner of SAMARA, invited John Crowther to his home following Mr. Crowther's one-man performance of Frank Lloyd Wright at Purdue University. As a trained architect and admirer of Wright's work, Mr. Crowther sensed immediately the virtues of Usonian style architecture. He commented about the way Mr. Wright used building materials and lush vegetation around the carport and front entrance to make the house spring from its natural surroundings. He noticed reflections of the ornamental copper on the windows, which extend the outside view of the home to the inside. |
