1   What was it like talking with FLW?
2   What is the name of the lamp made from boxes?

It was really very interesting and educational talking with Frank Lloyd Wright.

There is no question but that he was a true genius and was unequaled in his ability to generate new, innovative and distinctive designs tailored to meet the many varied personalities of his clients.

He often said he could just shake the designs out of his sleeve. This was probably true because he designed over 1,000 buildings during his professional career.

He was very gracious in his dealings with my wife and me. He always took time to talk with us and to show us around his homes and drafting room studios.

He often invited us to stay for dinner and on occasion invited us to stay overnight in his home.

He had a subtle sense of humor with a personality that immediately attracted your attention. He more often than not said something or did something you never forgot.

Mr. Wright was always designing something unique and different. For my house he designed five "pole" lights which you have referred to as "lamps made from boxes."

This is because the lamps consist of wooden poles to which are attached box-like structures projecting out at different angles.

The boxes contain hidden pink colored light bulbs which cast an indirect light onto the wood and adjacent brick walls.

All five of the "pole" lights are of different design and the intensity of each can be contolled by remote electronic devices.
